Like, am I the only one that thinks Season 3 was done dirty by putting politics and sexuality of characters under the main focus of the season instead of just old superhero action like season 1?

Kaldur still isn't gay, he's poly, and a man isn't less of a man for not being straight. And even then, it's not a bad thing for a character to be gender non-conforming. Black GNC people deserve representation as just as anyone else.
also, isn't there kind of a catch-22 there? Because Kaldur and Wyynde got together offscreen, then people are saying it's bad because there's no story there, but if we had had a whole romantic arc between the two of them, then I gurantee there'd be people complaining along the lines of 'why does everything have to be about how they're gay' and saying that it's being shoved in their face. And straight characters get together largely offscreen all the time - why's it only a problem for the LGBT characters?
@Mostlydc they probably made him gay/bi in the show because thats what he is in the comics. And even then he doesn’t even act feminine (at least to me).
He wasn’t originally gay though he was gay in the rebirth comics lol the original aqualad character wasn’t gay
@Mostlydc I know right they just have to try to get a gay character in every show nowadays and of course it’s a black guy
What do you mean by 'the original Aqualad character?' Garth? Because he's only had a relationship with Tula as far as we know. On the other hand, Kaldur is a show-original character (since Jackson was made based on his art while the show was in development) so... there's no original character to be contradicted here, this version of him IS the original. And if you mean he wasn't in s1 - the comments from the crew would indicate they always meant for him to not be straight, they just weren't able to make it explicit before now.
(And, even if there was some original Kaldur'ahm before the show, who was 100% straight - new adaptations change characters' sexuality and more all the time, and it's not a bad thing. Reinterpreting and putting new spins on old characters is part of adaptation, and using that as a way to have more characters from underrepresented groups is a good thing.)
There was no need to make him gay on the show at all go look and see how many gay black characters there are in shows it’s crazy
Black gay people exist, though. And there's even more white gay characters and black straight characters. So what's the problem?
The problem is there are more gay characters then black characters and I’m not just talking abt young justice I’m talking about shows in general and when there is a black character they make him gay all the time
@Karrin Blue im not even talking about cartoons anymore just superheroes in general (including girls) here’s a list
Black lightning’s daughter
Mr. terrific
Prodigy
Rococo
Aneka
Josiah power
Kyle jinadu
Dale gun
Fade
Hero cruz
Big thunder
Virtue
Fuse
Darkveil
I could do this all day there is many more
Yeah, but most of those characters are in shows that have plenty of black straight characters too (the ones I recognize, anyways.)
Also, I'm not sure why you think I think there aren't black gay characters in shows? I never said there wasn't. I just said, overall, there are more white gay characters, more black straight characters, and WAY more straight white characters. And, since LGBT black people both exist, and have had a significant but often under-represented effect on history, I don't see the issue with having lots of non-straight black characters (even if there WERE more of them than straight black characters, which I don't think is the case.) It's not like someone not being straight makes them less black, either.
