Batwoman (real name Katherine "Kate" Rebecca Kane)[2] is a member of the Justice League and formerly a member of Batman's team.[7]

Physical appearance[]

In her costumed persona, Batwoman wears a black mask with pointed bat-like ears. The mask covers most of her face, leaving only the mouth and the skin near the lips visible. Her thick red hair is visible from behind the mask. Batwoman wears a black uniform that covers her entire body, with a red bat symbol on her chest. She also has a long cape that reaches the ground, and several pouches around her waist.

History[]

Early history[]

Kate is Jewish.[8] Batwoman became a hero in 2016 at the age of 25.[9] She joined the Justice League around December 2017.[10]

2018[]

In January,[11] upset with being kept in the dark about the true purpose of the Injustice League's league, Joker staged an attack on the United Nations. Batman's entire team stepped in to stop him, disabling the Joker venom canisters and gave chase when he escaped.[1]

She attended an emergency League meeting via hologram in which Batman proposed to dissolve the team, as a result of the restrictions placed by the United Nations on their actions. After he tendered his resignation, Batwoman was among the ones who promptly followed suit, presumably having planned it in advance.[6]

She subsequently joined Batman's new covert group.[7]

2019[]

Batwoman was among those at the Batcave who conferenced into a meeting of the Justice League, the Team, the Outsiders and Batman's team on the Watchtower. It was decided that Batman's team would be folded back into the League and Team.[7]

Batwoman and most of the Bat-family dealt with a turf war between Two-Face and Penguin.[1]

Background information[]

  • Kate Kane is the second Batwoman (after Kathy Kane). A former West Point student whose career was cut short by Don't Ask Don't Tell, she is steadily adjusting to life as a socialite. She is a cousin of Bruce Wayne and Bette Kane.
  • This is Kate's second animated appearance; she first appeared in Batman: Bad Blood. Other versions of Batwoman have appeared in Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
