Boomerang was part of a squad under Black Manta's leadership, sent to acquire technology from and destroy the Rocket Red Brigade. The squad's attack was intercepted by the Team, who happened to be investigating the Brigade at the same time. During the fight, Boomerang impaled Halo with a boomerang, but the squad was forced into retreat. They observed as the Team then surrendered to the Brigade. Boomerang was as shocked as Amanda Waller when Manta revealed their opponents were the Justice League's secret covert ops team. Boomerang was reluctant to face them again when ordered, but Waller quickly changed his mind by shocking him with his brain implant.

Despite a promising start taking down the Rocket Reds, the second battle went no better for Task Force X, and they were defeated by the Team and Reds.[3]

Boomerang was part of a Task Force X squad led by Black Manta. They prepared to kidnap Clayface from Bowhunter Security. Brick was nervous about dealing with them, but Boomerang expected an easy mission. The squad attacked the warehouse Bowhunter was guarding. Boomerang desiccated Clayface using a trio of special boomerangs, and Monsieur Mallah vacuumed him up while the rest of the squad easily handled the other Bowhunter guards.

The squad escaped on the Manta-Flyer, where they rehydrated Clayface in a pod. Boomerang had trouble interpreting Mallah's "speech", so Tuppence Terror translated for him.[4]
