Coral is the emissary for the Atlantean city state Neptunos. She is the wife of La'gaan and Rodunn.

Physical appearance[]

Coral resembles a typical teenage Caucasian girl with brown, spiky hair and blue eyes. She wears a sleeveless shirt that leaves her abdomen exposed and shorts to match. She wears bracelets and anklets made of bluish seaweed, and no shoes.[2]

Coral represented Neptunos at the annual conference of city-states. The opening ceremony got no further than introductions before it ended, thanks to the absence of a delegate from Xebel. As she left she met up with La'gaan who had been watching Artur outside, and remarked that he would make an excellent father. Lori Lemaris asked the two to join her for a night on the town, but the heavily pregnant Coral said it would have to be a short one as she got tired.[3]

With Bishop Beluga now representing Xebel, the conference proper began. Coral said little, listening as others laid out the common economic and environmental concerns. Midway through discussions, the conference, and Poseidonis as a whole, came under attack by Ocean-Master. Empowered by Neptune's Trident, Ocean-Master proved a superior foe even while greatly outnumbered, and easily swatted back attacks by Mera and Orin. Rodunn was hurt, and Coral rushed to his side. La'gaan soon joined them, and Coral assured him Rodunn would be okay. Ocean-Master was finally defeated by a hooded stranger with powerful magic, who forced Orm to flee. The stranger disappeared before the others could recover.[3]

La'gaan prepared to leave on a covert mission to Xebel. Coral and Rodunn were not happy he was leaving when the baby was so close to due, but La'gaan insisted it was an honor to be chosen to join Kaldur, and that he would be home soon.[4]

Coral went into labor and gave birth on July 3.[5]

Coral and Rodunn watched happily as La'gaan held their child for the first time.[5]

Powers and abilities[]

  • Atlantean attributes: Atlanteans, although human, have through scientific and sorcerous means[6] developed several abilities which allow them to live comfortably under the sea:
  • Underwater breathing: All Atlanteans are capable of surviving the aquatic atmosphere under the sea. Some accomplish this without the presence of visible gills.[2][6]
  • Temperature resilience: Resistant to low temperatures[7] and the effects of freezing,[8] although notably hindered by high temperatures.[9]
  • Durability: Dense flesh, although not invulnerable.[10][6][11]
  • Strength: Ranging from undetected levels to super strength.[8][6][12]

Appearances[]

Background information[]

  • "Coral" was an original incidental character, designed by Jerome Moore, based on the art style of Phil Bourassa. She was designed as a bit of a punker type, with much of her outfit fashioned from natural aquatic materials. She is not named in her debut episode.[13] Moore also designed the older version of the character for season four.[14]
