Designations are unique membership numbers possessed by all members of the Justice League,[1] the Team[2] and the Outsiders.[3] They are read out by the Justice League Computer when a member enters any restricted areas of the Hall of Justice[1] or Mount Justice.[2] The Computer also reads out designations when someone is leaving Mount Justice[1] or the Hall of Justice.[4]

The system also allows authorized guests to use the Zeta-Tubes.[5]

Known designations[]

Unlettered series: Justice League[]

With the exception of the seven founders of the League, who have designations 01 to 07, these designations indicate the order of the members' induction into the League.[6] For the founders, their designations indicate the order in which they had arrived to battle the first menace that they fought as a group, before the League had even been formed.[7]

A-series: Guests[]

B-series: The Team[]

The first three designation numbers indicate the order in which the individual became active as a hero/protégé. B-04 and B-05 indicate the order of introduction to the other founders. Speedy, later Red Arrow, was given the designation of B-06 to indicate his open invitation, which he eventually, though briefly, accepted. B-07 and onward indicate the order in which they joined the Team.

The B-series was also used for the Outsiders initially, but from February 25, 2019[31] a new D-series came into effect for them.

C-series: Pets[]

The C-series was used for the Team's pets.[45]

D-series: Outsiders[]

Initially, the Outsiders used B-series designations alongside the Team (notably its founding members had all been Team members first), but from February 25, 2019[31] a new D-series was used.[3]

E-series[]

G-series: Nightwing's team[]

The G-series was created by Dick Grayson without the League's knowledge.[47] The series became defunct as its members joined/rejoined other groups.[48]

Z-series: Batman's team[]

The Z-series was created for Batman's team following the mass resignations from the Justice League and the Team. The series became defunct after all members joined/rejoined the Justice League or the Team.[50][51]

Notes[]

  1. This designation was only granted in a telepathic simulation; the real Jason Bard has no access to the Cave.
  2. 2.0 2.1 These designations were later removed because Savage and Klarion were never intended to be authorized guests.
