The Doom Patrol was a superhero team that operated between 2011 and 2015.

History

The Doom Patrol was founded by the Chief in 2011, with Mento, Negative Woman and Robotman as founding members, later joined by Elasti-Girl. After Rita Farr (Elasti-Girl) became Garfield Logan's guardian, he moved in with the Patrol and was occasionally allowed to go on relatively safe missions with them, except for the the final one, which was known to be a suicide mission. All the members of Doom Patrol died on that mission in 2015, under unknown circumstances, except Mento, Beast Boy, and Robotman.

Background information

• The Doom Patrol is a team of freaks and outcasts led by the wheelchair bound Niles "the Chief" Caulder. Like in "Nightmare Monkeys", all members except Mento and Beast Boy were killed in a mission early on. The team was reformed with other members, though the originals were later reappeared resurrected, retconned or both. The notable difference is Negative Woman: the original team had Negative Man/Larry Trainor, while Negative Woman/Valentina Vostok was a member of a later incarnation. This change was likely made to facilitate the use of Teen Titans Go! voice actors.
• This is the team's 5th animated appearance. They appeared in the Teen Titans TV series, Doom Patrol DC Nation shorts, in a cameo in the Justice League: The New Frontier animated movie, and Batman: The Brave and the Bold. All adaptations use the line-up of Chief, Robot-Man, Negative Man and Elasti-Girl, with the exception of Teen Titans, which used Mento as leader instead of Chief.
• The Doom Patrol, minus Mento, were designed for "Nightmare Monkeys" in the style of Teen Titans Go! by that show's lead character designer, Chris Battle. He based them on the characters' appearances in the Teen Titans animated series. Chris was not told what the designs were for and only found out when the episode premiered.
