Elasti-Girl was a former actress and member of the Doom Patrol. She was also the godmother of Garfield Logan.

History[]

When she was a teenager, Rita played Rita Lee,[3] the best friend of Megan Wheeler in Hello, Megan!.[4] After Marie Logan gave birth to her son, Garfield, Rita and Hello, Megan! co-star Paul Sloane stood as his godparents.[3]

In 2012, Rita gained the power of elasticity[5] and got together with Steve Dayton.[6] She subsequently joined the Doom Patrol and married Dayton.[3] After Marie Logan died,[7] Rita became Garfield's guardian, as specified by Marie's will.[8] Garfield moved in with the Patrol[3] and Rita occasionally allowed him to go on relatively safe missions with them, except for the the final one which was known to be a suicide mission.[9] And so it was, as Rita died on the mission in 2015.[3][10]

Background information[]

  • In the comics, Rita Farr was an actress, though she had to give up that career when she became Elasti-girl of the Doom Patrol. She is the adoptive mother of Beast Boy.
  • This is Rita's fourth animated appearance, though the others were all as part of the Doom Patrol. She was voiced by Tara Strong in two episodes of Teen Titans, had a small cameo in Justice League: The New Frontier, and was voiced by Olivia d'Abo in Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
  • Elasti-Girl and the rest of the Doom Patrol were designed for "Nightmare Monkeys" in the style of Teen Titans Go! by that show's lead character designer, Chris Battle. He based them on the characters' appearances in the Teen Titans animated series. Chris was not told what the designs were for and only found out when the episode premiered.[11]
