When Child arrived on Earth she chose a large, flawed diamond[3] to form her anchor to the material plane, and used it to create Flaw. After naming it and carving a crude face, she had Flaw kill a security guard so she could study human anatomy.[1]
After Child explained to Klarion that she had come to replace him, and had the support of all the Lords of Chaos, they began to fight. Etrigan the Demon later arrived, but Flaw held him off, proving immune to the demon's fire breath. This inspired Klarion to target Child's anchor, but Flaw proved impervious to Klarion's attacks. Eventually Klarion fled, and Child and Flaw pursued.[4]
Child and Flaw caught up with Klarion outside the Tower of Fate. Child had Flaw kill Klarion's anchor, Teekl, which it did with ease despite Klarion empowering the cat. With Teekl gone, Klarion was banished from the mortal plane.[5] Child then destroyed the Tower. When Doctor Fate tried to respond, Flaw punched him, cracking his helmet. Child teleported away with Flaw.[6]
They traveled across the world while Child created pillars of fire, each accompanied by a different calamity, taking them to Sydney, Manhattan,[6]Poseidonis,[7]Taipei and Agra.[6]
Child and Flaw were finally caught by Doctor Fate, Zatanna and her students, who pooled all their power to blast them. They were totally unharmed, and departed after creating another pillar of fire.[6]
Child and Flaw were summoned to the ruins of the Tower of Fate by Doctor Fate and a newly restored Klarion, aided by Zatanna and her students. During the ensuing battle, Child lost the backing of the other Chaos Lords, but Child remained confident she had sufficient power left to handle the situation and ordered Flaw to kill the humans. Mary Bromfield held him off with an energy beam for a while, but he hurled a rock at her and advanced on them. Leroy and Thirteen noticed Flaw's flaw and used it to destroy him, thus banishing Child.[2]
Magical Familiar: Flaw is Child's anchor and familiar on the earthly plain and if it gets fatally injured or killed, its master would be thrown back to her own dimension.[4][2]
Telepathy: Flaw was capable of mental communication with Child, at a primitive level.[8]
Weaknesses[]
Flaw: Flaw inherited a flaw in its chest from the Star of Atlantis. Thirteen was able to expand the flaw, shattering it.[2]
