Gorilla City

Gorilla City.

Gorilla City was the name of the Brain's headquarters in Bwunda. It consisted of a series of Quonset huts. It was destroyed after the Brain activated its self-destruct system.[1]

History

Early history

The first Quonset hut was built in 2008 for use as a laboratory by a thin man and an old woman. There they enhanced the intellect of a captured gorilla named Mallah; inserted the woman's brain into the body of another gorilla, Tolifhar, to create the Ultra-Humanite; and inserted the man's brain into a mechanical construct to create the Brain. More huts were erected. The site was named Gorilla City, and from there a whole troop of gorillas was captured and enhanced.[1]

Grodd and his squad of gorillas brought most of the Team, unconscious and fitted with inhibitor collars, to the compound. The Brain and Ultra-Humanite were unhappy Miss Martian and Wolf had not been captured. They sent Grodd out to find them.[2]

In one hut, Grodd, Solovar, Boka and Primat held a telepathic conference with Miss Martian. In the main hut, Brain and Ultra-Humanite discussed what to do with their new captives, who were shackled to a wall. Later, Miss Martian knocked out the guards to another hut, where the troop's children were being held hostage, and took the children to safety. In the main hut, Robin escaped, detonated a smoke grenade and freed his teammates. The Team and their gorilla allies defeated the Brain, Ultra-Humanite and Mallah, so the Brain activated the base's self-destruct on a five-minute timer. The base was evacuated before being destroyed in a series of explosions.

Later, when asked about his troop's future, Solovar suggested they might build a Gorilla City of their own.[1]
