The House of Zod is a Kryptonian family and its followers, led by General Dru-Zod, one of Krypton's most widely known military leaders.[2][3]
History[]
Early history[]
Prior to Krypton's destruction, General Dru-Zod disagreed with the Kryptonian government's relationship with New Genesis[4] and plotted a coup, which he justified as a means of saving their world. Thanks to Jor-El and Zor-El, he and his followers were imprisoned in the Phantom Zone,[2] sentenced to serve ten years, making the House of El the Zods' enemy.[2][3] Unbeknownst to either of them, Ursa was pregnant with his child, but the pregnancy did not advance while in the Zone.[2] Zod suffered Zone-Sickness, but was able to overcome it.[5]
31st century (original timeline)[]
Long after the destruction of Krypton, the United Planets found the last Phantom Zone Projector and paroled everyone from the Zone. The House of Zod was resettled on Daxam, and Ursa Zod gave birth to the house's newest member, Lor-Zod. Within 15 years, Dru-Zod relocated his people to a nearby world with a yellow sun, so they could gain the superpowers he viewed as a birthright. He then led them in a revolt against the United Planets. The House and its followers were all sent to the Phantom Zone by the Legion of Super-Heroes, except for Lor due to his age. After the Projector was destroyed, Lor traveled back to the 21st century to prevent the Legion's formation.[2]
2020 (revised timeline)[]

Within the Zone, Dru-Zod found a disorientated Superboy carrying an unconscious girl.[2] He took them back to the House of Zod's encampment. After introducing Superboy to Ursa Zod, who agreed to take care of the girl, Zod showed Superboy the others working outside, where they chanted in praise of the House of Zod. Dru offered Superboy the chance to join the House, or else go on and face the Zone alone. Superboy knelt before Zod.[6]
|
Zod and his followers ambushed Nightwing's squad when they attempted to rescue Superboy. The group was able to escape, and shortly after a boom tube opened up. Zod decided to go through with Ursa, Faora Hu-Ul and Superboy, leaving the rest behind until they knew it was safe.
Zod emerged on Trombus and was greeted by his future son.[7]
|
After Lor-Zod explained himself to his parents, Faora was sent back to retrieve the rest of Zod's army. The Zods then came under attack, and Lor had the group evacuate to the Fortress of Solitude.[1]
|
At the Fortress, the Zods used solar pods to accelerate their power gain, and had a new boom tube opened to the Zone for Zod's army. Thanks to interference from Nightwing and his team, none of Zod's army was able to come through and the solar pods were destroyed before the Zods gained their full powers. Nonetheless, the Zods had become very powerful, and Ursa even more so when the Eye of Ekron chose her to be the Emerald Empress.
The Zods went on to Planet Circle in Metropolis, where Dru-Zod announced that he was claiming the Earth in the name of Krypton and the House of Zod, and intended to have Superboy execute Superman as a show of dominance.[1]
|
Klarion hunted down all the Kryptonians in the Zone and placed them in stasis on the Warworld.[8] Vandal Savage and Ultra-Humanite observed the captive Kryptonians, including Dru-Zod.[8]
|
The Emerald Empress arrived at Daxam, determined to raise her unborn child to wreak vengeance for the House of Zod.[8]
