Icicle Sr. is a supervillain who uses cryokinetic technology.

Personality[]

Icicle is an 'old school', no-nonsense type. His machismo and charisma make him a natural fit as the capo of Belle Reve Penitentiary. Within the prison, the other inmates heed his many dictates; a simple interjection from him can end a jail yard scuffle. He is hard to please, but those who take initiative and are fearless in the face of danger may earn his respect. For the most part, Icicle is level-headed and composed but is not above resorting to brutality when angered.

Physical appearance[]

Icicle, despite his age, appears to be a man in his late forties. He has gray hair and beard and brown eyes. He wore the orange jumpsuit of a Belle Reve prisoner, along with the typical inhibitor collar.[3]

History[]

Early life[]

Icicle Sr. was born in 1925, but because he spent a lot of time "on ice", he now looks no older than fifty.[2] He was an expert in cryotechnics.[4]

He displayed very little interest in his son, Icicle Jr., and only demanded his presence when the situation required it. While imprisoned at Belle Reve Penitentiary, Icicle Sr. became the head of the prisoners.[3] Icicle Sr. was a friend of Lawrence Crock's "back in the day".[5]

In mid-September, Senior initiated a mass break out attempt with smuggled technology with the help of Captain Cold, Icicle Jr., Killer Frost, and Mister Freeze. Despite not escaping, Senior and Hugo Strange were satisfied with accomplishing multiple objectives, in part for the Light.[3]

After five mysterious ice fortresses covered the United States with a blanket of snow, Batman and Flash suspected Icicle Sr. and the other ice-villains were involved. Hugo Strange told them they had been, and still were, in their cells.[6] However, Icicle Sr. was in fact responsible for powering one of the fortresses.[7]
