Kalibak is a New God from Apokolips and a son of Darkseid.[2]

Personality[]

As a son of Darkseid, Kalibak honors him by helping to conquer worlds for his father's empire. However, despite his position within the hierarchy, that does not appear to help him garner the respect or fear of those he sees as beneath him. His pig-headedness is instantly noticeable but even more apparent is his thin-skin, which can give way to brutish outbursts if triggered. Olympia Savage correctly observed that he suffers from "daddy issues".[2]

His wanton disregard for sentiment life in order to achieve victory makes him dangerous, as he proved when he sacrificed a hostage meta-teen to obliterate Starro's armada.[2]

Physical appearance[]

Kalibak has a stocky, brutish build. His big arms and torso are disproportionate to his muscular, yet smaller legs. His skin is pale and tan with tattoos that run down either arm to bring attention to his huge biceps. His brown facial hair is unkempt and forms a sort of mane around his head.

He dons a black tunic that has prominent green accents in the collarbone and trapezius areas, and that weaves together into a design on his kilt; both his shoulders are exposed and he wears gauntlets with green accents around his forearms. Appropriately, his hands are huge though his fingernails resemble claws.

History[]

Early life[]

Savage and Darkseid strike a deal

Kalibak watches his father deal with Vandal Savage.

Around the turn of the 13th century, Kalibak and the rest of Darkseid's forces attempted to conquer Earth but were faced with resistance from Vandal Savage, who was using the name Genghis Khan and his army. He and his father's army decimated Savage's army but the latter wasn't defeated. Standing by, Kalibak watched as Darkseid brokered a deal with Savage and a partnership was formed to conquer the Galaxy, however once this goal was accomplished, Earth and Apokolips would engage in a final battle for sole domination of the universe.[2]

Kalibak observed in silence as Darkseid met with Ma'alefa'ak. Speaking on his father's behalf, Grayven called forth Mantis with the Kaizer-Thrall and asked Lor-Zod to show himself. The latter de-camouflaged his Time-Sphere. Grayven ordered Ma'alefa'ak and Mantis to follow Lor-Zod's orders as if they were Darkseid's, and the trio went off in the Time-Sphere.[4]
