Kilowog is a Green Lantern.

Personality[]

As a Green Lantern, Kilowog has a love of justice and the ability to overcome fear with willpower.[1]

Despite his gruff manner, Kilowog has a softer side, being overjoyed to see his old friend, Razer, again.[1] Though he can be harsh, he has a strong sense of integrity, as he agreed to an alliance between the Green Lantern Corps, New Genesis, and the Justice League in order to put an end to meta-human trafficking, especially after the heroic sacrifice of his friend and fellow lantern, Tomar-Re.[2]

History[]

2016[]

Kilowog parted ways with his Red Lantern friend Razer, and would not see him again for four years.[1]

Kilowog and Tomar-Re neared New Genesis, where they were to represent the Green Lantern Corps at talks with the New Gods and the Justice League. Kilowog was dubious about the conference's success. Their power rings picked up a distress signal, leading them to a Blue Lantern whose life support aura was failing. Kilowog reinforced the Blue Lantern's aura and quickly recognized him as Razer. He embraced his old friend and teased him for flying without a fully charged ring, but Razer explained he had lost the hope needed to power his Blue ring.[1]

Kilowog asked Razer what he had been doing in the four years since they last saw each other. Razer explained that he had received a Blue power ring shortly after, and had given his Red power ring to Metron. He had searched for Aya for years, following many promising clues that all led to dead ends. Having lost hope, he had come to find Metron and get his Red ring back.

Kilowog went to the conference room, and the talks began. Rocket asked what New Genesis planned to do about Apokolips's interference on Earth, and was disappointed they would do nothing. Instead, they wanted a neutral party, the Green Lantern Corps, to mediate. Orion was unsure of the Corp's resolve, as they had released the Furies and Mantis after just six months. Kilowog said they were mere "poozers", and that the main villain had not been captured, which he blamed on the Earthers. Rocket reminded him that included three Green Lanterns. Orion came to wonder why so many humans became Lanterns. Kilowog suggested the "screwy" conditions on Earth produced many suitable candidates. Rocket was interrupted by a phone call, and left to take it.

Kilowog and the others heard explosions from outside and went to investigate. They found the female Forager badly injured amid the rubble of destroyed statues. Razer, who had inadvertently caused the damage while fighting Metron, realized his mistake, and ended up regaining his Blue power ring while retaining his Red one. He used to the Blue ring to heal Forager, and then repaired the statues. Kilowog suggested Razer had the willpower for a Green ring as well, and could one day get rainbow powers. Razer hugged him goodbye and asked him to say hello to Hal for him, before leaving to continue his quest.[1]

The conference resumed, and continued to go poorly. The meeting was interrupted by Bear, who wished to see his old friends Rocket and Forager, express his condolences over Superboy's death, and discuss the rumors he had heard about Forager being romantically involved with another Forager. Kilowog was bored by the proceedings, and then embarrassed when his power ring loudly announced it had initiated bio-waste recycling. They were interrupted once more by the arrival of Metron, who boom tubed in with a dire warning of galactic peril.[3]

Kilowog joined a meeting held by Metron to discuss the threat of Lor-Zod and the Phantom Zone Projector. Metron determined there were two possible power sources for the Projector on the surface of New Genesis. He went with Metron and Infinity-Man to one site.

This turned out not to be the site used by Lor-Zod. The group boom tubed to Boiling Lake Crater where Lor-Zod had been found, but by the time they arrived, the battle was over; the Projector was destroyed, Lor escaped and Tomar-Re was dead.[2]

As the Justice League contingent prepared to leave, Kilowog and Vykin affirmed to Flash that the treaty between New Genesis, the Green Lantern Corps and the League had been agreed in principle and could be considered signed. They discussed the fate of Mantis and the Kaizer-Thrall, who had been captured, and Kilowog assured Flash that the Corps was already hunting Tomar-Re's killers.[2]

Kilowog was at the reception of the Galactic Science Prison. He watched with some concern as Tomar-Tu's ring struggled to identify a visitor, but relaxed when the ring determined he was a Daxamite with no criminal record.[4]
