The Legion of Super-Heroes are a group of heroes in the 31st century. They view Superboy as a great inspiration. Three Legionnaires traveled back in time to try to prevent Lor-Zod from killing Superboy and thus erasing the Legion.[1]

History[]

31st century (original timeline)[]

The Legion was founded after young heroes were inspired by Superboy's example, particularly by an event in Happy Harbor on May 14, 2030.

They fought Dru-Zod's attempt to overthrow the United Planets and used the last Phantom Zone Projector to send Zod and his followers back to the Phantom Zone. Lor-Zod relentlessly fought the Legion to get the Projector and free his parents, forcing the Legion to destroy the Projector. This prompted Lor-Zod to steal a Time-Sphere and travel back in time to kill Superboy and prevent the Legion's formation.[1]

31st century (revised timeline)[]

Three Legionnaires, Saturn Girl, Phantom Girl and Chameleon Boy, were irradiated with chronoton radiation by Lor-Zod's Sphere, rendering them immune to the changes he wrought on the timeline. They found that the Legion no longer existed. They took the last Time-Sphere and traveled back to stop Lor, knowing the only point that Superboy's location was known prior to the inspiring event.[1]

Phantom Girl detected Lor-Zod's activity with her Time Scanner as he tampered with Ma'alefa'ak's gene-bomb. When Superboy attempted to disarm the bomb, Phantom Girl attempted to save him. Superboy and Phantom Girl ended up in the Phantom Zone, but were presumed dead by everyone else.[6] Following Superboy and Phantom Girl's "deaths", Saturn Girl and Chameleon found their Time Sphere destroyed, leaving them stranded in the past. They later traveled back to Earth via Bio-Ship.[2]

In the Phantom Zone, Phantom Girl was comatose. Superboy tried his best to care for the stranger.[7]

Saturn Girl and Chameleon Boy approached Superman for help, asking him to take Superboy's place at a crucial moment in Happy Harbor in exactly ten years' time. When this did not reset the timeline, they were unsure if it meant they had failed.[2]

With all the components gathered, Bart assembled them on the Bio-Ship, but refused to complete the job until Saturn Girl and Chameleon Boy told him exactly what they were up to. Reluctantly, the duo explained the story of what brought them to the 21st century. Satisfied, Bart completed his work, and invited them onto the Bio-Ship to see the completed Cosmic Treadmill.[1]

They took the newly empowered Bio-Ship to New Genesis. They found the Phantom Zone Projector already in use, and destroyed it before anyone could come through. Lor-Zod and Ma'alefa'ak boarded the Bio-Ship and took Kid Flash and the Legionnaires prisoner.[8][9]

Saturn Girl and Chameleon Boy remained bound by inhibitor collars as Zod took the Bio-Ship in search of the Kaizer-Thrall.[10]

After Lor-Zod left after releasing his parents, the three Legionnaires were reunited on the Bio-Ship. Saturn Girl congratulated Phantom Girl for saving Superboy, but Tinya knew he wasn't saved yet. Imra was just glad to have hope again. Cham worried about involving the other heroes damaging the timestream, but Saturn Girl felt stopping Zod was a bigger priority.[11]

Bio-Ship arrived at Earth and tracked the Zods to the Fortress of Solitude. They were shot down by the Emerald Empress on approach.[11]

After creating a psychic illusion to make Zod and his group believe the damage was worse than it was, the three Legionnaires left with Miss Martian and Nightwing aboard Baby to fight Zod in Metropolis.

They arrived at Planet Circle to find other heroes already fighting Zod's forces. The Legionnaires focused on Ma'alefa'ak. Ultimately the battle was won, with Zod and his forces either sent back to the Phantom Zone or forced to retreat, and Superboy's mind recovered. The fact Lor-Zod escaped in the repaired Time-Sphere Rocket used to return to Earth led them to fear that the war was not over, however.[12]

The Legionnaires attended Conner and M'gann's wedding. Before the ceremony, a Time-Sphere appeared containing Brainiac-5, who had come to take them back home. He calculated a 99.84% chance they had substantially restored their timeline. The group wished Conner well, and left for their own time.[12]
