M'Chiste is a purist.

Physical appearance

M'Chiste is a dark-skinned pure Atlantean from the city of Poseidonis,[2] with brown hair that is partly shaved off. He wears olive colored pants and no shirt, only belts and necklaces. He also carries a spiked mace.[3]

History

Poseidonis

M'Chiste and his friends were preparing an attack on Ronal's classmates, but were found out by King Sha'ark, who accused them of being purists. Aqualad managed to prevent a fight.[3]

M'Chiste and other purists gathered in an underwater cave to listen to their leader Ocean-Master unfold the rest of their plan.[3]

Powers and abilities

  • Atlantean attributes: Atlanteans, although human, have through scientific and sorcerous means[3] developed several abilities which allow them to live comfortably under the sea:
  • Breathe underwater: All Atlanteans are capable of surviving the aquatic atmosphere under the sea. Some accomplish this without the presence of visible gills.[4][3]
  • Temperature resilience: Resistant to low temperatures[5] and the effects of freezing,[6] although notably hindered by high temperatures.[7]
  • Durability: Dense flesh, although not invulnerable.[8][3][9]
  • Strength: Ranging from undetected levels to super strength.[6][3][10]

Appearances

Background information

  • M'Chiste is named after, and greatly resembles, Machiste, the best friend of Warlord (Travis Morgan). He is not tied directly to the Atlantean myths of Arion; however, his inclusion seems to be based on Arion's first appearance, a backup feature in Warlord. In the comics he had replaced his right hand with a spike studded mace; in this issue, M'Chiste wields a similar mace.
