Madia Daou is Gabrielle Daou's mother.
Personality[]
Madia is a warm and loving mother with a deep concern for her family. She was overjoyed by the return of her "daughter" but disheartened to learn that Gabrielle was no more and that her daughter's body had been assumed by a new soul. Despite her nephew's initial outrage, Madia acknowledged that Violet had only sought to give them closure about Gabrielle and gave Violet her gratitude and her blessing, having already noted she had anger to spare but towards those who deserve it, like Queen Bee whose soldiers had caused the death of Madia's husband.[2]
Madia has shown a guiding care for Violet, grateful to them for helping her and her nephew move to America. While she cannot practice surgery until her credentials transfer, Madia has made the best of it, and gladly offered Violet guidance when they came to her, asking her to help them to understand Islam since Islam was important to Gabrielle. Madia gently explained certain details about Islam, particularly the hijab, and stated she views her faith and the hijab as a means to encourage others to look past her outward appearance and see her for the woman she is inside, and not be judged by the unrealistic standards of society.
Madia also revealed she figured out Violet was the hero 'Halo', as she watched the news coverage of how they were involved in exposing Bedlam's crimes and she expressed her pride that Violet declined becoming Brion's queen when he seized the crown for himself. While they prepared a meal together as they talked, Madia accidentally burned her hand, which Violet healed, and she was both impressed and awed by Violet's power to heal, regarding it as a gift.[5]
Physical appearance[]
Madia is an olive-skinned woman with brown eyes. Her hair color is unknown, as she wears a hijab to cover her head. She is dressed in mostly black from head to toe, exposing only her hands and face.
History[]
Early life[]
Madia was an eye surgeon in Qurac.[5] Her husband died when Qurac was annexed by Bialya, and her daughter Gabrielle left the country for Markovia. She lived with her nephew, Samad Daou.[2]

Madia was shocked and delighted when her daughter visited her. "Gabrielle" told Madia and Samad she was dying. Madia and Samad had many questions and wanted to help, but "Gabrielle" had only wanted to give them closure. As they noticed how Gabrielle was not behaving like herself, they admitted they were in fact Halo, the result of a Motherbox's soul fusing with Gabrielle Daou's body. Samad reacted with anger, calling them a demon, but Madia was grateful to finally know what had happened to her daughter, and wished Violet well with their new family.[2]
Violet got Secretary-General Troia to help get US visas for Madia and Samad, and they moved to Happy Harbor. Madia's medical credentials did not transfer, so she got a job selling sunglasses at Sunglass Igloo.[5]

Violet visited Madia at her new home. After catching up on Madia's new life, Violet asked to learn more about Islam, as it was important to Gabrielle and they thought it could hold meaning for them. They discussed the significance of the hijab while preparing a meal. Madia admitted she knew about Violet's second life as Halo, and shortly after burned her hand, but Violet healed her. They later discussed the nature of God and Violet's bad experiences with so-called god Granny Goodness. Madia told Violet she had been proud when she saw them turn down Brion Markov's offer to become queen, and believed Violet was on a good path.[5]
