Mist is a former victim of the Branchwater Security meta-human trafficking ring. She is now a member of the Team.[6]

Personality[]

Mist is shy and nervous, and apologizes profusely for hurting others, even when she knows she isn't in full control of her actions.[4]

Physical appearance[]

Mist is a short, olive-skinned teenage girl with hazel eyes and a slim physique. She sports a bob cut of silver-blond hair and a piercing on her left nostril.[4]

History[]

Early history[]

Under unknown circumstances, Mist was sentenced to Belle Reve Penitentiary. While en route to prison, her transportation was intercepted by Branchwater Security. Like every other victim of this meta-human trafficking ring, Mist was abducted and then enslaved via an injection of Mad Hatter's nano-tech.[4]

Nightwing's team tracked Mist and her accomplices down in an empty warehouse, as they were getting ready to make their escape. She sparred with Nightwing, who had difficulty hitting her in misty form. She materialized her hands and choked him, all the while apologizing profusely for her actions. Nightwing eventually managed to retrieve a chemical spray from his pocket, which crystallized her.[4]

A few days after being liberated from meta-human traffickers, Mist and Livewire joined the Meta-Human Youth Center.[7]

In the Center, Mist quietly partook in a counselling session, presided by Eduardo Jr., with Livewire, Wendy Jones and Celia Windward.

Afterwards, in a training session supervised by Eduardo Sr., Mist turned into her vaporous form to demonstrate her control of her powers. Wendy got a little carried away using her aerokinesis and created a cyclone which ensnared Mist and knocked her to the ground. Livewire retaliated and engaged Wendy, who in turn began to suck all of the oxygen out of the room, causing everyone else to fall to the ground, gasping for air. Eduardo Jr. managed to teleport them both outside the Center to save everyone.

Later in another counselling session, Mist and Livewire walked away with a visible look of resentment towards Wendy.[8]

  • Sublimation: Mist can turn her body into a vaporous form. She masters this ability to such a degree that she can simultaneously make certain parts of her body intangible and others corporeal, allowing her to attack without exposing herself to enemy attacks.[4] Her ability does not affect clothing.[4][8]

Appearances[]

Background information[]

  • The Mist is the arch enemy of Starman (Ted Knight), and his daughter Nash had the same powers. She fought Ted's son and successor Jack Knight and, during one fight, raped him, which resulted in the birth of their son Kyle Theodore. Following her death, Jack retired as Starman and took Teddy to live with him and his pregnant girlfriend Sadie in San Francisco.
  • The real name "Andie Murphy" is a reference to Andy "Murph" Murphy, a fake identity used by the first Mist in Starman #26 (1990).
  • This is her first animated appearance.
