Khüiten Peak

Khüiten Peak in Western Mongolia.

Khüiten Peak is a peak in the mountains in Western Mongolia. Vandal Savage had his main headquarters built there a very long time ago,[1] and he maintains a history cave beneath it.[2]

Sportsmaster demanded an audience before the Light and requested that the group pay reparations for Artemis's "death". The Light proposed a substantial monetary sum, but Sportsmaster refused the compensation—a pay-off would damage his reputation. He instead demanded Aqualad's demise. When his entreaty was denied, he attacked Black Manta, but the assassination attempt was foiled by their new enforcer, Deathstroke. He escaped via helicopter, with Cheshire as the pilot. As they flew off to safety, he told her that protocols had to be followed while she wordlessly glared at him.[3]

Olympia Savage handed Cassandra Savage writings about the backstory of their father, Vandal Savage. Olympia then located Vandal, who was reminiscing about the day when centuries ago he saw a meteorite fall to Earth. She told him an armada was approaching their solar system.

Vandal contacted Luthor for solutions to deal with the armada. Luthor observed that due to their successful machinations, they were out of options. So, Vandal decided to deal with invaders himself.[4]

Ultra-Humanite received texts from Helga Jace, who wished to leave the Premiere Building with Geo-Force, Terra and Halo. He reassured her that arrangements had been made to secure that.[5]

Vandal Savage hosted a video conference with the other members of the Light. Gretchen Goode informed them how Nightwing, Black Lightning, and the Motherbox slipped through her hands. Ultra-Humanite told her not worry about Halo, as he already has plans to capture her. Gretchen remarked that Ultra-Humanite was not the only one who has interest in Halo, and in turn he pointed out that securing Halo was his operation and, per Light-tradition, that gave him first rights to her. When Gretchen turned to Savage for reassurance, Savage silently confirmed Ultra-Humanite's statement.

As Vandal was looking over his monitors, a boom tube opened behind him. Knowing what that meant, he grunted and walked through into Apokolips. Darkseid was waiting for him and somehow convinced him to hand over Halo to Gretchen.

Hours later, the Light had another conference, minus Gretchen. Deathstroke explained how the Markovs escaped Helga Jace's control without blowing Tara's cover. Ultra-Humanite posited that by handing Halo over to Darkseid, the galactic balance of power would shift irrevocably, as she was the living key to the Anti-Life Equation. Vandal was alarmed by this news and crushed his tablet in his bare hands.[6]

Along with the rest of the Light, minus the ousted Gretchen Goode, Vandal watched Tod Donner's report about the Justice League taking down a meta-human trafficking ring in outer space and rescuing 316 abductees. The Light decided to proceed with the next step of their plan. Deathstroke passed on intel from Terra that Gregor Markov had left Markovia, and the Light initiated plans for a coup there.[7]

In the aftermath of Brion Markov's crowning, the Light discussed their victories, as they now controlled Markovia through the "Puppet King" Brion, thanks to their newest Light member: Zviad Baazovi. Vandal briefed them on his partnership with Darkseid and remarked that they should keep an eye on Halo, for she could be the key to their partner's much sought out Anti-Life Equation, and likewise the key to their own victory.[8]

Baazovi reported on the success of the meta-human operation in Markovia. Savage asked about the UN's plans to send in inspectors, but Zviad was not worried. Klarion then sensed a wave of mystic energy caused by Child's arrival on Earth and abruptly left the meeting.[9]
