Synopsis[]

Ma'aleca'andra
March 23, 00:03 UTC

Garfield wakes up after the explosion. He asks "what happened?" as M'gann picks him up. Em'ree J'onzz explains that the Zeta-Tube just exploded and knocked out their connection to the M'arzz-Earth Communications Satellite. They've lost contact with the Watchtower as a result. They have no way of finding out if Martian Manhunter survived the transportation. M'hontrrs accuse Ma'alefa'ak of sabotaging the Tube but M'gann defends him, saying that he never had time to get to the machine. M'gann asks Em'ree if there was a malfunction with the Zeta-Tube. Em'ree explains that it was clearly sabotage.

M'arzz
March 23, 00:22 UTC

The M'hontrrs arrest Ma'alefa'ak. M'gann tries to explain to them that he was clearly kept under supervision. There is no way he could have sabotaged the Zeta-Tube. The M'hontrrs are not convinced and take Ma'alefa'ak away. M'gann, J'ann M'orzz, and M'aatt M'orzz go with them while Conner and Gar stay behind to help Em'ree. Em'ree telepathically communicates with Queen J'arlia J'axx to give the damage report.

Rumors spread fast among the M'arzz citizens on what could have happened. Prince J'emm J'axx arrives at the Royal Palace to ask his mother is Martian Manhunter is really dead. R'ess E'dda accuses Ma'alefa'ak of terrorism.

Conner spots burn marks on the side of the damaged Zeta-Tube. Em'ree informs Conner and Gar that she was able to patch a signal to make contact with the Watchtower.

The Watchtower
March 23, 01:28 EDT

Superman tries to make contact with M'arzz, but to no avail. Martian Manhunter arrives explaining that he is certain something went wrong just after he transported. He asks Cyborg to boom tube them back to M'arzz. Cyborg refuses, saying that he is not able to pinpoint a safe location since he has never been to M'arzz. Superman makes contact with Steel requesting him to return the Javelin to the Watchtower. Steel confirms.

Suddenly, Em'ree establishes contact. Martian Manhunter assures her that he is fine. Cyborg begins to lock in on their signal.

M'arzz Exosphere
March 23, 05:29 UTC

The M'arzz-Earth Communications Satellite explodes as a lone figure watches from orbit.

Communication with M'arzz and the Watchtower is cut off. Cyborg was not able to locate the signal in time. Steel explains that it will take him, at least, a couple of days to return the Javelin to the Watchtower. Until then, M'gann, Conner, and Gar are on their own.

On M'arzz, three mysterious figures hide in the shadows: Saturn Girl, Chameleon Boy, and Phantom Girl. They discuss amongst themselves what "he" intended to accomplish by causing the explosion. Saturn Girl instructs them to stay ready.

At the prison cell, M'gann asks her parents for a moment alone with Ma'alefa'ak. Ma'alefa'ak accuses M'gann of running away to Earth and leaving him alone on a planet where he felt like an outsider.

At the Zeta-Tube, Prince J'emm arrives to meet with Conner, Gar, and Em'ree. He explains that a lot of his planets problems stem from the murder of his father. He was hoping to reopen the case with the help of Martian Manhunter. Conner and Gar offer their assistance. Prince J'emm accepts and telepathically gives them the information on his father's case. The action stuns Gar, who turns frantic. Conner calms him down. J'emm requests that they keep him informed on anything that they find.

At the cell, M'gann knows that Ma'alefa'ak is hiding something and threatens him by saying that if he doesn't tell her everything she will take it the hard way. Ma'alefa'ak calls her bluff, knowing she doesn't do "the hard way" anymore. He knows that the law has nothing on him and demands to be let go.

Sacred River
March 23, 15:51 UTC

Later, M'gann and Conner marvel at how beautiful that Sacred River is. Gar is less enthused as he looks at photos of himself with the Outsiders on his phone. Suddenly, a Ma'arphinn Beast sprays Gar with water. Gar transforms into one of them and dives into the water to chase them.

As they watch Gar play, Conner shares the case of the King's murder with M'gann. M'gann's parents interrupt, saying that they should be focusing on the wedding. They have brought a Sorceress-Priestess with them named S'yraa S'mitt who will perform Ma'ayava'ana, the gift of love, as well as the wedding, in three days.

At the Palace, R'ess E'dda requests that Queen J'arlia deny her son's request to involve Earthlings in the investigation into the King's murder. The Queen refuses, believing that Conner, Gar, and M'gann's help could prove useful.

At the Sacred River, M'gann, Conner, and Gar walk the cavern, excited that there are only three days left until they are married. They decide to go check on Bio-Ship. Chameleon Boy, Phantom Girl, and Saturn Girl are following close behind them. Suddenly, there is a cave in. The three Legion members disappear. M'gann senses Saturn Girl's psychic signature but gets distracted when she, Conner, and Gar are buried under the rocks. They are able to escape the rock pile easily. M'gann searches for the psychic link but it is gone. Conner doesn't pick anything up on infrared either. Suddenly, M'gann notices that Conner is bleeding and freaks out. Conner explains that they are far from the sun and underground so there is not much solar energy for him to absorb. He assures her that he is fine and but they can all agree that someone is trying to kill them.

Saturn Girl, Phantom Girl, and Chameleon Boy agree that someone tried to reveal their presence to M'gann and Conner by causing that avalanche.

In his cavern, Ma'alefa'ak meets with Desaad who has brought a gift from Darkseid out of gratitude for Ma'alefa'ak's help on New Genesis. Desaad explains that when the gene-bomb is detonated, it will disperse a virus that would kill all B'lahdenns and G'arruns. He is unsure about mixed-raced Martians, but Ma'alefa'ak doesn't care.

End credits scene: At the Sacred River, Beast Boy listens to a voicemail left by Perdita Vladek. Perdita talks about the difficulty Vlatava faces due to the refugee crisis created by Markovia, and how she misses her father and Garfield.

Quotes[]

  • Miss Martian: I feel like I don't even know you anymore.
  • Ma'alefa'ak: Of course, you don't know me! You abandoned me! Ran away to Earth!
  • Miss Martian: I... I-I had to go... I was... dying here.
  • Ma'alefa'ak: Don't you think I know that? But why didn't you take me with you? I was a child, and you were my rock. You should've protected me! Instead, you traded me in for a cute little green Beast Boy.
  • Miss Martian: I was a child too...
  • Miss Martian: Spill, M'comm! Or I'll take what I need the hard way.
  • Ma'alefa'ak: (chuckles) You've been watching too many of Uncle J'onn's Earth cop shows. Your mind's too open for me to fall for this act. The hard way? (chuckles) You don't do"the hard way", anymore.
  • Ma'alefa'ak: Let me put this in terms a television fan can understand. The satellite blew up after I was already in custody. I'm obviously not the "perp".
  • Desaad: A'ashenns. G'arrunns. B'lahdenns. Nothing but a single genetic marker, affecting skin color only separates the Martian races. You are all one species.
  • Ma'alefa'ak: Does that trouble you?
  • Desaad: No, no. (laughs) I find your petty racism very... entertaining.
