Neptune's Trident is the primary weapon of Ocean-Master.[1] It can siphon life energy and magic from other Atlanteans, and project that magic.[2]
History[]
Ocean-Master used the trident in the battle with Aquaman that led the latter to meet Kaldur'ahm and Garth.[3]
After inspiring the Atlantean purists movement, Ocean-Master abducted Queen Mera, and used the trident to absorb her power and use it to project a field that weakened all "impure" Atlanteans. The spell was broken when Ocean-Master was briefly separated from the trident.[1][2]
After his imprisonment, the Ocean-Master was able to retrieve the trident, and plotted to use it to kill the family members of the Justice League, including Mera and Artur. Lady Shiva killed Ocean-Master before he could exact his revenge, as the Light feared the retaliation that would follow. She cleared away his body and the trident.[4]
The trident was given to a clone of Ocean-Master,[5] who used it to stage an attack on the Conference of Delegates. The trident's blasts caused significant damage throughout Poseidonis. Ocean-Master was forced to retreat by a mysterious stranger.[6] This event appeared to many to satisfy part of The Prophecy of the One True King, which speaks of a trident. The new Ocean-Master later used the trident to help Mera extinguish the pillar of fire created by Child, but the stranger's power was needed to finish the job. Ocean-Master then attacked Mera, but the stranger disarmed Ocean-Master, and gave the trident to Mera.[7]
Abilities[]
- Energy blasts: The trident is capable of emitting powerful blasts, capable of damaging many buildings.[6] The trident can also create a beam to grant more power to a magical construct.[7]
- Energy siphoning: The trident can be used to draw magical power from another individual for its bearer. The effect is broken if the bearer loses contact with the trident.[1][2] The trident can also create a suppression beam to depower or dispel another magical construct.[7]
- Teleportation: Ocean-Master was able to vanish from a losing battle in a flash of light.[6]
