The Forever People, a group of New Gods.
New Gods are a god-like race native to one of two worlds—New Genesis, a sanctuary of peace, and Apokolips, a fiery hellscape. The exact nature of their being is a mystery, but what is understood is that the two worlds were initially at war with one another,[1] however they eventually developed a truce between the two worlds which prevents either side from directly moving against the other. The truce was forged at great cost and both sides are extremely reluctant to break it.[2]
Physiology[]
New Gods are not immortal; though they age incredibly slowly, they do eventually die. They can be killed, but this is very difficult as they are extremely tough and have ready access to powerful healing via Motherboxes and Fatherboxes.[3]
Many New Gods are known to possess other superhuman powers in addition to their toughness and longevity, such as Dreamer's psychic abilities[1] or Lightray's flight,[4] but it is unclear if all do.

Background information[]
The New Gods were the centerpiece of Jack Kirby's magnum opus Fourth World series. In the beginning, these tales existed outside of the mainstream DC Comics continuity, but at the publisher's insistence, were folded into the larger universe. Since then, the cast of characters have appeared in many DC stories, and in Countdown to Final Crisis, they were all killed to make way for "Fifth World".
