Sheriff Maguire offered Gaby Gabrielli a ride home, when three Reach War Bugs attacked the town. He tried to get her to safety as she recorded first Kaldur'ahm and then the Outsiders arriving. After the Outsiders defeated the War Bugs, Mayor Thomas Tompkins insisted Maquire arrest them in accordance with the town's anti-vigilante laws, and he reluctantly complied. When the mothership arrived shortly afterward, the Outsiders freed themselves and saved the town once more. Thompkins again insisted on their arrest, but Maguire overruled him this time, citing a Good Samaritan law.[2]

Background information[]
- Patrick "Scrapper" Maguire was a member of the Newsboy Legion, allies of the Golden Age Guardian. This pint-sized Irish American newsboy made up for his lack in stature by constantly trying to fight everyone.
- Maguire's visual appearance, voice and occupation is evocative of Sheriff Bronson Stone, the local sheriff in Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.
- This is his second animated appearance. An unnamed version made a cameo in the episode "Patriot Act" of Justice League Unlimited.
