Phil Bourassa is the lead character designer for Young Justice.
In September 2011, Phil Bourassa won a Primetime Emmy award for Individual Achievement in Animation for his character design work in "Independence Day".[1]
Biography
An aspiring comic book artist, Bourassa started working on Warner Bros. after Denys Cowan (co-creator of Static and the rest of the Milestone characters) saw a comic book that he had published. Cowan was starting to develop the third season of Static Shock and brought Bourassa on board. He learned the ropes of the animation industry and over time became part of the WB crew.
For the subsequent years, Bourassa worked on various productions, such as the Scooby-Doo series and Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman. Then he moved on to Cartoon Network to work on Ben 10. Afterward, he went to Sony animation to help Sean Galloway design for The Spectacular Spider-Man. He also landed a job with Marvel and Lionsgate, where he designed two films, Thor: Tales of Asgard and Planet Hulk.
In the fall of 2008, when Bruce Timm was directing Wonder Woman, he saw some of Bourassa's drawings and brought him on board to design the upcoming Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths DVD. In the spring of the following year, Bourassa joined the production team of Young Justice as Lead Character Designer.[2]
