Amid a snowstorm, Karen Beecher gave birth at Ivy University hospital. Evelyn Fox noted that the baby showed signs of cyanosis. She was diagnosed with a hole in her heart. Due to the snow, a surgeon was not available, so Karen had her Bumblebee suit brought to her from Dr. Palmer's lab, and she shrank down and went inside her daughter to patch the hole. Karen then contemplated altering her daughter's DNA to give her the Meta-Gene.[1]
Karen had emerged from her now healthy daughter, whom her parents had named Rhea Malia Beecher-Duncan, and told her husband she had done "the right thing" for their daughter, as mother and daughter recovered from their ordeal.[1]
Mal and Karen had a child, who was born in Titans Hunt #8 (2016). At the time she debuted in Young Justice, the child was not yet given a name in the comics. This is her first animated appearance.
