S'yraa S'mitt is a Martian sorcerer-priestess.

History[]

Early life[]

S'yraa S'mitt was born a Green Martian with an affinity for magic. Despite not feeling she had a calling, she studied with the Sorcerer-Priesthood to learn how to control her powers. At some point, she met and fell in love with prince J'emm J'axx, but began to neglect her studies. They desired to marry one another, but their relationship was short-lived since King S'turnn J'axx forbade their marriage due to their difference in status. In hopes of changing his mind, S'yraa snuck into the palace, posing as a White Martian servant, to talk to the king.

However, his dismissive and contemptuous response upset S'yraa and caused her magic to flare out of control, creating a bolt of energy that struck the king, killing him. S'yraa panicked and escaped the palace. Knowing she could never be psychically open with J'emm again after what she had done, she decided to become a Sorcerer-Priestess and lead a celibate, solitary life. She was later approached by J'ann M'orzz and M'aatt M'orzz to officiate a mixed species wedding ceremony between their daughter, M'gann and her fiancé, Conner Kent. Despite the potential repercussions she would face, S'yraa agreed, feeling sympathy for the young couple and wanted to give them a chance at happiness she couldn't have with J'emm.[3][4]

S'yraa arrived at the M'orzz's for the building of the ceremonial canopy and encountered Prince J'emm J'axx. They were both uncomfortable and awkwardly greeted each other, with J'emm revealing they already know each other.

En route to the Crystal Cave, S'yraa asked M'gann how she and Bio-Ship bonded. Upon picking up on the strife between Em'ree J'onzz and M'gann, she exhorted the wedding canopy as a symbol for new unions and reunions alike.

In tandem with M'gann, Em'ree and J'ann M'orzz, S'yraa assembled the wedding canopy with a motley of crystals. M'gann struck up a private conversation about her history with prince J'emm, and S'yraa revealed that both were once in love, but because of their different races, they couldn't be together.

After M'gann and Em'ree had a heated argument and J'ann finally embraced M'gann's "true form", S'yraa exalted their family bond and invited them to reassemble the shattered canopy.[5]

After blessing the wedding altar and canopy, S'yraa was approached by Em'ree, seeking advice on how to mend her relationship with M'gann. S'yraa told her to start by telling her she was sorry.

Later that day, S'yraa took part in the celebrations for J'emm's birthday at the Royal Arena. J'emm confronted S'yraa about her killing his father. S'yraa denied it at first, but when Beast Boy and Superboy corroborated the accusation with proof, S'yraa's magic started to flare out of control, shooting beams of lightning. She begged J'emm to leave, in fear he would get hurt. She finally professed her love for him and collapsed in his arms. She confessed to killing the king, albeit unintentionally, and was escorted away by two M'hontrrs.[4]
