Mera and Kaldur Icons

Mera and Aqualad's skin icons glow as they use their powers.

Skin icons are mystic cryptograms[1] worn by Atlantean magic users.

Appearance[]

When first applied the tattoos are permanent and show as typical black tattoos on the skin while dormant, and glow blue when active. Once users reach a certain level of ability, they can sublimate the markings so that they're only visible when in use.[2][1][3]

Certain markings are totemic. Others relate more specifically to the powers[1] and are typically aquatically themed, often taking the appearance of sea life.[3]
