Spider Bot

A purple Spider Bot.

Spider Bots are four-legged combat robots developed by LexCorp. There are a number of different models with different sizes and armaments.

Physical appearance

A large, white Spider Bot.

There are four known models of Spider Bot; a larger white version and a smaller model with three variants distinguished by color and weaponry. While at rest, the smaller models stand at approximately half the height of an average human; the larger model stands at slightly above average human height.

All models share in common the basic form of a central body containing a single forward-facing weapon port, supported by four multi-jointed legs. The bodies of the smaller models consist of two parts vertically linked by a post: the upper section containing the weapon is flat and roughly delta-shaped, the lower part consists of four linked cylinders to which the legs are joined. The body of the larger model is a single ovoid piece that connects to each leg directly, and is much larger relative to the legs compared with the smaller models.

Dozens of purple Spider Bots were used to defend the Light's dig site in Siberia. They burrowed themselves in, hiding under the snow until intruders came close. Purple and green bots were used to defend the tunnels leading to the laser room of the dig site.

Purple, green and red Spider Bots were among the LexCorp robots that supported Manta Troopers and Bane's thugs to serve as security for the Light's excavation of Atabey's Shrine.

Gotham City February 17, 20:20 EST

Purple, green and red Spider Bots were deployed to support Riddler and his henchmen at the Gotham Docks, the Haly International Traveling Circus and Riddler's Funhouse Maze.

The Light deployed red and purple Spider Bots alongside the Bialyan Republican Army to defend Marduk's Temple, in addition to its supernatural defenses.

2018

Late in the year, Oracle located a LexCorp Spider Bot factory in Dublin. Together with Batman, Robin, and Miss Martian, a plan was set to have the factory destroyed with plausible deniability by using some of Professor Ivo's abandoned robots to draw the Outsiders to the factory.

2019

Dublin January 1, post-22:41 UTC

The Outsiders found the Spider Bot factory, containing numerous white bots. In the ensuing battle against "Ivo" and his MONQIs, the Ivo android initiated a self-destruct, destroying the factory and its Spider Bots.

Abilities

A green Spider Bot fires its laser.

• Small version: Capable of burrowing and hiding in soft ground or snow, and can jump.
  • Purple model: Fires energy bolts.
  • Green model: Fires continuous laser beam. Raises main body and rotates while firing.
  • Red model: Fires flamethrower.
