Doctor Fate, Zatanna and her students went to Sydney in search of Child. They found the city ravaged by a volcano at the base of a pillar of flame. The heroes debated helping for continuing the search for Child, but the arrival of Phantom Stranger, Red Tornado and Terra to deal with the situation spurs them to move on.[1]

Red Tornado, Terra and Phantom Stranger had succeeded in quieting the volcano and dispersing the pillar of fire. Vandal Savage arrived via boom tube to work with the Stranger on resolving the greater conflict, and the two promptly departed.[2]
