Canon material

Ok, am I missing something here? How many episodes have already aired? I think there's only one, and it definitely didn't have all the information posted on this article. What's the source for all these minutiae? ― Thailog 15:25, December 5, 2010 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure someone has just been adding info based on what happened in the comics, despite the fact that YJ may be very different from the mainstream DC universe. Some stuff comes from interviews, although Greg Weisman has pointed out that they aren't necessarily reliable. So I tend to think we should be phasing out the unsourced elements in the near future. -- Supermorff 15:38, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
I figured. That used to happen in the DCAU Wiki all the time. Sometimes it still does. Editors think they need to fill every gap with comics canon, even if it's inconsistent with the animated universe. That's why we have a conjecture policy. Maybe it should be imported over to here. ― Thailog 15:45, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
Maybe, or some of it anyway. I don't think we need the same templates, though. A little note in the infobox next to the 'name' should be sufficient. Greg Weisman also suggested some sort of distinction between the canon stuff and non-canon stuff from, e.g. interviews,[1] although I think as long as the interviews are referenced as such then it's not such a huge issue. -- Supermorff 15:53, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
It sounds doable. We have a template for questionable material that highlights the text and has a hover note. Maybe we could use something similar here, but more subtle? ― Thailog 16:06, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
I already made a template here, but it doesn't link anywhere yet since we don't have a policy page about it. -- Supermorff 16:26, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
I see. But that is for unsourced material, I was thinking of a way to make non-canon, sourced, material stand out from regular text(=canon). ― Thailog 16:35, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
Ah, I gotcha. Yeah, we had a thing like that at GargWiki too: . Makes text bold and blue. -- Supermorff 17:29, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
Ah, nice. That's what I was going for. We should use that too. What does CIT mean?Thailog 17:37, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, that's a Weisman-ism. "Canon-in-training". Mainly things from Ask Greg that haven't shown up in canon material - probably true but subject to change. Not sure blue is a good colour, though, since it'll be very similar to the links on the site. Can't use red either for the same reason. Yellow/gold? Orange? Green? Purple? I don't know. -- Supermorff 17:43, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
Green... green is good. Nice work! -- Supermorff 18:13, December 5, 2010 (UTC)

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah link, blah blah blah blah blah blah. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.

Does it stand out alright? ― Thailog 18:14, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
It looks good, but maybe it does need to stand out a bit more. Tad more saturated, or lighter? -- Supermorff 18:20, December 5, 2010 (UTC)

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah link, blah blah blah blah blah blah. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah blah blah.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah link, blah blah blah blah blah blah. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah blah blah.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah link, blah blah blah blah blah blah. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah blah blah.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah link, blah blah blah blah blah blah. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah blah blah.

Of the above, I like them all except 'Orange', which blends in a little too well with red links. -- Supermorff 18:33, December 5, 2010 (UTC)

That wouldn't be a problem if we decided to go with orange. I could easily change the color of red (and blue) links inside the CIT template. I'd just need access to the CSS, or someone to do it for me. ― Thailog 18:41, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
... You can do that? Awesome. But if we're trying to narrow it down, we might as well not go with orange anyway. -- Supermorff 18:45, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
We can do almost everything with CSS. A pain in the ass sometimes, but it's our friend. Though, I'm not a fan of orange neither. I'm kinda liking the yellow one, or lighter green. The former stands out better. ― Thailog 18:48, December 5, 2010 (UTC)

Dick or Tim?

Are we sure this Robin is meant to be Grayson? His skill set matched Tim Drake more. --Roguebfl Talk 01:42, January 26, 2011 (UTC)

It was confirmed to be Grayson, I can't remember where now, maybe look in the sources section. I'm out of the house at the moment, but once I get home I will find you a link. Will94 (Talk - TTFF - Teru) 04:31, January 26, 2011 (UTC)
For a completely canon source, issue #0 of the comic has Alfred refer to him as "Master Dick". -- Supermorff 18:37, January 28, 2011 (UTC)
Given the drop zone episode where they choce a lead declears he's 13, and Bane's on the scene, and Robin knows who he is, that fits with Drake not Grayson. --Roguebfl Talk 03:16, January 29, 2011 (UTC)
Well, this is a completely different universe with its own timeline, so that argument doesn't really hold. The spin-off comic, which is written by series creator Greg Weisman and staff writer Kevin Hopps, refer to Robin as "Master Dick". That is a canon reference. If you want something clearer (but not necessarily canon), we'll have to go direct to the creators. Here and here, Greg Weisman specifies that Robin is Dick Grayson. Here he explains that this is Earth-16 and not tied to previous continuity. If that's not sufficient, well then I have nothing more to give you. But Robin is Grayson not Drake. -- Supermorff 09:14, January 29, 2011 (UTC)
You guys are all kind of close, but no. That's not how we know it's Dick Grayson. On the Cartoon Network website, on the Young Justice Page there's a profile for all the characters. Robins confirms his secret idenity as Dick Grayson. Peter 10 18:39, May 14, 2011 (UTC)

I don't know if this is something worth mentioning, maybe, but has anyone else noticed he tends to mess with words a bit? Like, in the first episode, he's heard underwhelmed and overwhelmed, and wonders why no one is just whelmed. He then uses whelmed as a word throughout the rest of the episode. He's done the same to disconcerted (concerted) and I think disturbed, but the last one I'm not sure about. --Aliana*Anima della tundra! 10:52, February 4, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, he said 'turbed' a couple of times. Mention it if you like, because it seems like a thing he does a lot. -- Supermorff 23:13, February 4, 2011 (UTC)

Okay first of all, is all of Robin's abilities copied and pasted from the Teen Titans Robin? I've read over it, some of it is true, and the others are NOT. Someone needs to fix it looks pretty bad.

Well, we're a wiki. Why not edit it yourself? -- Supermorff 18:31, February 6, 2011 (UTC)

Good point.

However, I'm not that good at elaborating, which is why I think someone else should do it. I dont think me doing it would be such a good idea.

Why will Robin ( Richard John "Dick" Grayson) have no Love intrest? Why can't he with be with Artemis because both of them don't have powers? But he might levitate to walls.

youngjustice robin

So not to be a downer here but they neverrevieled which robin this is on the show i havent read the comics so i dont know but im highly douting the fact that it's dicki ... in my opion its probably Jason and maybe tim. I really think its Jason because they didnt tell us his name and i think they would have told us dick or Tim

Read here, Rassilon of Old (Talk - TTFF - Teru) 06:56, March 20, 2011 (UTC)
In addition, it has been stated that he's Dick in episode 5, episode 8, issue 0, and issue 1. All canon references. -- Supermorff 09:40, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

This robin is in fact the 3rd robin, Tim Drake. NOT DIck Greyson. DIck was the first robin and was part of the teen titan that happened long before Young justice. Greyson comes back last as night wing and is the leader of a new generation of teen titans. Tim drake later goes on to become Red Robin. Who ever wrote this did not read up on the facts

You have to be kidding me. It has been stated in multiple episodes, multiple YJ comics, like five times on this talk page, and even by the creator himself. It is Grayson. Rassilon of Old (Talk - TTFF - Teru) 01:47, March 31, 2011 (UTC)

Early Life Update?

Issue six of the YJ comic shows that Dick not only watched his mom, dad, older cousin, and aunt die in the fall but his uncle fell, survived, and is still alive and paralyized (thus unable to care for him). I think the fact that this version of Dick Grayson has a living relative that could pop up later, even in the form of responsibility, is important. I added this info once and it looks like it got deleted. Should we add it again or is there a policy on this that I'm not up on? —The preceding unsigned comment added by (talkcontribs)

That would be nice, yes, but we're not going to remove valid, sourced information just because it was added anonymously. -- Supermorff 19:33, July 31, 2011 (UTC)
Obviously I meant this talk page not Robin's main page. I was only pointing out that you were quick to mention that I hadn't signed in and had to give me a somewhat condescending lesson with an illustration of what to do, and yet you seem perfectly fine about this user not signing in. -- Anythingspossibleforapossible 00:08, August 1, 2011 (UTC)
I'm very sorry you thought it was condescending. I can't recall the incident in question, but the only reason I would recommend that an anonymous IP should register a username is because I'd seen them do a lot of really good work and I thought they should get credit for it. I'm perfectly fine about anonymous users in general not signing in. -- Supermorff 18:50, August 1, 2011 (UTC)

Robin's De-Prefixing: New Section?

Can I add a section on this? His habit of removing prefixes from words to make up his own terms seems to come under Personality, but I had a look at Kid Flash's page, which has a separate section just listing the souvenirs he's collected so far. It's quite major but not really reflected here at the moment.

Robin's Age

Isn't Robin 14 by now? He's now a freshman in high-school different than how he was in middle school near the beginning when Wally previously said he was 13. —The preceding unsigned comment added by GRiND (talkcontribs)

No. This has been answered on Ask Greg to oblivion. Look up "freshman" with the search option, you're bound to get your answer. And he's nowhere (yet) referred to as a 14 year old, so we still list him as thirteen. --Tupka217 (talk|wall) 07:52, April 19, 2012 (UTC)

Due to the 5-year gap he would be 18. Everything on his page says he's 13. -- Anythingspossibleforapossible 12:13, April 29, 2012 (UTC)

Serisouly Greg? I would've went with kicking if I ever decided to bust a wall, less likely to hurt yourself. I've seen holes in drywall (I didn't make them) and it seems to match up. Starling starwing 23:49, May 31, 2012 (UTC)

One question: Isn't Nightwing 19, not 18?

If Dick was in the 9th grade, then he would have to be 14 by the end of the year (2010), since he was 13. So, by 2011 (Auld Acquaintance), he has to have been 14, and since "Happy New Year" starts on Jan. 1st, 2016, he has to be 19. Does my reasoning make sense to anyone else? Shan the Hedgehog 00:00, June 1, 2012 (UTC)

They said he was 13 and then he never had a birthday or said he was 14 until the say he changes age we go but what was saidBaneares 00:05, June 1, 2012 (UTC)

WelcomeBaneares 00:05, June 1, 2012 (UTC)

If I remember correctly, Dick started 9th grade in september during season 1, which ended on new years, which is not the end of the school year. Since I doubt they wouldn't plan out his birthday (which makes it a spoiler request), we'll probably be seeing his 19th birthday in the 6 months season 2 will cover. When/if we do, I'll be very happy. Starling starwing 00:12, June 1, 2012 (UTC)

You guessed right. It's a loose statement, we're going to have to wait to see how it plays out. --Tupka217 22:33, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

I'd gladly do this when I get the issue, but i'lll ask first. Definitive on Zatanna, Bette and in time we'll almost definitely have Barbara as well. and that's all we KNOW from this season. Zatanna in particular we have probably more canon then we had for Lagoon Boy and Miss Martian and no less then Cheshire and Roy. Bette not sure on a full page but it'll probably deserve a mention in section at least.

dry run: Bette and Dick both went to Gotham Academy although in different years,<e12>, they were unfamiliar with each other given by her dismissing him when assisting Artemis settle in as student liason, for at least his freshman year.<also an AG on this but dont think needed> Sometime over the timeskip they have come to know each other {from what i assume, unclear on specifics}|sharing the night together, although she seemingly still does not know him as she only refers to him as "handsome". <c20>

Probably more content then tim though not surprised if skimmed or chopped entirely but i'm hoping that we'll get more on them together.

As i said, i'd gladly implement when more info available but if that's pretty much it for Bette and big no on solo page, happy to add in.Regulus22 16:01, September 20, 2012 (UTC)

I don't think Bette warrants her own section yet. Barbara needs an update with an in-universe spin that we don't know what it is, but she takes some delight whenever the matter of Dick and the ladies is brought up. --Tupka217 16:47, September 20, 2012 (UTC)

The Hatnote

I'm kinda questioning the purpose of the hatnote on this page (and Red Arrow's too). Hatnotes are meant to disambiguate when more than one person has taken the name. But neither Jason nor Tim were ever Nightwing. So a hatnote would only be needed on Tim's page for Dick and Jason. The same for Red Arrow - only on Speedy. Though Speedy should become either the main disambig or a redirect to the Roy Harper disambig after its content is moved to Arsenal. --Tupka217 22:16, September 29, 2012 (UTC)

I think the Hatnote on Nightwings page is because this page is sometimes linked from a page that says Robin, refering to Dick when he was still Robin. Maybe someone new to this wiki(and probably to the show) sees that link and clicks it thinking it will go to the current Robin, and gets surprised when he sees Nightwing, the Hatnote will help him no what happened. Same with Red Arrow. --Justice Avenger (talk) 22:25, September 29, 2012 (UTC)
Hadn't thought of that application before. --Tupka217 22:31, September 29, 2012 (UTC)

Ok I just want to go out here and say it: Nightwing really needs a new profile image. The current one looks awkward and the lighting is not that good. Anyone else want to offer any input here? Banan14kab 00:30, December 19, 2012 (UTC)

I don't know what you're talking about. The lighting is fine, the shot and angle of Dick is great (in my opinion), and overall it's a good one. NightwingOfTheFuture: #1 Nightwing Fan. (talk)
I see no issue either. If you want to change it though, suggest something here and we'll vote on it. The burden of change is on those who see faults.Regulus22 00:59, December 19, 2012 (UTC)
Yea Regulus I know, but I just wanted to bring it up here. And my main issues are that his ahir and arms fade too much. You can barely make out the details of both. To be honest, I don't like the current or Regular Guy's proposal. The current one has Nightwing in an awkward position and RG's proposal is actually the one with the bad lighting; it makes Nightwing's skin look more pale that it actually is. Just my opinions. But hey, I'm not going to complain, because I can't find a better image either. Vanoden 21:37, December 20, 2012 (UTC)
