Teekl resembles a domestic cat with ginger fur and tiger stripes.[1] At its master's bidding, it can grow into a grotesque, man-high cat monster.[2]
History[]
At some point during 10,000 BCE, Teekl became both Klarion's familiar and anchor to the mortal plane. Since then Teekl had been present for all of Klarion's chaotic activities for centuries, especially those from Klarion's alliance with Vandal Savage.[3] Some of those activities included: Klarion attacking Atlantis, the sinking of Atlantis, and the Starro invasion of Babylonia.[3][4][5]
Klarion kept Teekl with him at all times. This was something Doctor Fate noticed, and he attacked the cat rather than the witch boy. This made Klarion so mad that he was forced to retreat to save his anchor with the mortal plane.[1]
Teekl accompanied Klarion to a location where he could summon his old allies Felix Faust, Wotan, Blackbriar Thorn and Wizard. Teekl signaled him when he was at the right location for the spell.[2]
When the Team confronted Klarion, Kid Flash remembered Teekl was Klarion's weakness. However, Klarion saw through this plan, and Teekl transformed into a much larger and feral cat creature. Superboy had his hands full, until Klarion retreated and summoned Teekl back with him.[2]
When Klarion came to the docks of New Orleans to work on the echinoderm, Teekl had to inform his master that the person he was expecting, T.O. Morrow, was in a coma.[7]

Teekl took a step back while Klarion used his magic on the echinoderm.[7]
Teekl was on its favorite spot, its master's shoulders, when Klarion controlled the Justice League. It carefully monitored the Leaguers, and told the witch boy that Red Arrow, Red Tornado and Black Canary had not responded to their renewed exposure to Starro-tech. Because Klarion kept to the background, Teekl survived the battle without a scratch, and was teleported away with its master and Vandal Savage when Klarion was at the point of losing control.[8]
Klarion was overseeing the last phase of the Light's plan to release Tiamat and obtain the Tablet of Destiny. When he explained everything to the Team's Beta Squad, which had come to stop them, Teekl grabbed the Tablet and walked off, against the wishes of his master. The cat ran straight into Aqualad and his Alpha Squad. During the fight with Klarion and Blockbuster, the tablet was destroyed, prompting Klarion to escape with Teekl.[9]
After the Light's summit with their erstwhile partners the Reach turned out to be a trap laid by Aqualad and the Team, Vandal Savage summoned Klarion from his ring. Teekl sat on its master's shoulder, and watched as the witch boy transmogrified a sword into a fire dragon. Klarion, while stroking Teekl's chin, activated a portal which whisked him, his cat, and Vandal away from the underground cave.[10]
Teekl accompanied Klarion as he conducted Project Rutabaga. They were attacked by the Outsiders, and Teekl was soon knocked out by Beast Boy in elephant form, disrupting Klarion's powers. Once Teekl recovered, Klarion was back at full strength. Zatanna arrived and teleported herself, Klarion and Teekl into the Tower of Fate.[11]
Once Teekl made Klarion realize where they were, Klarion immediately tried to teleport them out, but found himself reappearing in the Tower each time.[11]Sixteen days later they finally managed to escape.[3]
Teekl was with Klarion while he conferenced with the Light to discuss the meta-human operation in Markovia, Klarion sensed the wave of energy sent out by the arrival of Child and teleported away in a panic.
En route to the source of the wave, Klarion and Teekl stopped over to torture some hummingbirds.
Klarion teleported to the Fine Jewelry store in Manhattan and found Marvin Fargo's magically dissected and displayed corpse beside Zatanna and her students. In the ensuing battle, Teekl was briefly put to sleep by Khalid Nassour, and later pinned Leroy to the ground. Klarion and Teekl were summoned away by Child before they could finish killing their foes.[3]
Teekl was with Klarion as Child explained that she had been sent by the Lords of Chaos to remove and replace Klarion. The pair battled, and it soon became clear that Child far outpowered Klarion, thanks to backing from the other Chaos Lords. Teekl warned Klarion about the "rock tsunami" Child created to bury him, but not in time to save him from it. When it was clear he was outmatched, Klarion teleported away with Teekl.[12]
Klarion went to the Tower of Fate, pleading for help. Child arrived moments later and ordered Flaw to kill Teekl. Though Klarion transformed Teekl into her saber-toothed form, Flaw easily snapped her neck. Klarion had only a moment to mourn her before he lost his physical form and floated away.[13] With him gone, Teekl's corpse reverted to her normal cat form.[14]
Powers and abilities[]
Teekl was Klarion's anchor and familiar on the earthly plane. Injuring or disabling Teekl would cause the Lord of Chaos to fade in and out.[1] When Teekl was killed, her master was thrown back to his own dimension.[13] Teekl is able to communicate with her master telepathically.[1] Klarion could boost Teekl's physical abilities, transforming her into a large saber-toothed cat,[2]a feat she was also capable of performing without her master's direct involvement.[15]
Teekl was designed by character designer Jerome Moore. Moore based Teekl's scraggly fur and whiskers on Mrs. Norris, the cat belonging to caretaker Argus Filch in the Harry Potter films. He also gave the cat's markings a rune-like quality, and included a vial/pendant on the collar that was based on the blood-filled necklaces worn by Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton when they were married.[16]
This is Teekl's second animated appearance. The first was the The New Batman Adventures episode "The Demon Within".
Teekl's gender has varied in each version; Jack Kirby's version is a female, and Grant Morrison's version is male.
