Nightwing's mission to Markovia had unintended repercussions for him and his teammates; although they had taken down the Bedlam Syndicate, Markovia's prince Brion Markov, along with Helga Jace and an amnesic refugee, were made exiles from their country in the process. Unsure of what to do with the strays, their only option was to bring them back to the states. Jace was left in the care of Jefferson Pierce, but he had nowhere for her to stay, so he rented her a suite at the Luthor Grande until better came to pass.[1]
Pierce and Jace went on a date at a restaurant on the hotel roof. Between idle talk about their work and recent events, the chemistry between them burgeoned until they imbibed enough alcohol to go back to her room together.[2]
Pierce and Jace lied together in bed after being intimate. Pierce confided in her about his misgivings on leaving the Justice League until a call from Dick Grayson interrupted his musings.[3]
Garfield Logan fell prey to the mind-altering effects of the Goode Goggles after unwittingly donning the device while waiting for his date to get ready. When Perdita discovered him unconscious on the sofa, she promptly called the local paramedics for help, along with his sister, M'gann, who eventually managed to wake him from his coma.[4]
After years apart, the Markov children reunited in a suite at the Luthor Grande. Gregor tuned into a GBS newscast extolling Brion and Tara's heroics with the Outsiders while stating his intent to leverage the positive press they were garnering to help his efforts to bring them back to Markovia. After they embraced, Tara excused herself to the restroom and subsequently messaged Deathstroke to inform him that Gregor had left Markovia.[6]
Later that night, live news coverage of the coup underway in Markovia galvanized them to return home with the Outsiders to take back their country.[6]
In the hotel suite, Gregor watched the events in Markovia unfold on GBS and stood helpless as Brion usurped him for the monarchy by denouncing his legitimacy to the crown.[7]
