A thought-to-speech box is a device used to allow individuals without a human voice box to speak.[1] It reads the user's mental speech impulses and outputs a synthesized voice,[2] and can come in various shapes and sizes.
History[]
The original technology was created by the Brain,[2] some time prior to 2008, when he and the Ultra-Humanite had their brains transferred into a robotic container and a gorilla, respectively. The Brain's box is built into his robotic suit, while the Ultra-Humanite wears a box on his chest.[3]
Beast Boy acquired a version of the technology sometime between November 22 and December 4, 2018. His device takes the form of a pair of small discs worn on his Bio-Suit collar.[4] They run the risk of falling off if he becomes too small when shape-shifting.[5]
