Gar took Wingman to a monthly group therapy session led by Dinah. He introduced him to the group, and spoke about how he helped provide structure to his life, though he also said the improvements in his condition were down to more than just Wingman; he was putting in the work.[1]
At the Premiere Building, Gar held Wingman as he and Cassie received an update on the investigation into Perdita's abduction, including a lead on a LexCorp Robotics factory.[5]
Beast Boy's voice actor Greg Cipes came up with the idea of giving him an emotional support dog to help with his PTSD. Producers Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti agreed and decided to name it after Cipes's own dog. Unlike the show's Wingman, Cipes's dog is not a corgi, but the real and fictional dogs are similar colors.[6]
Wingman was designed by Jerome Moore. As well as references of real corgis, his design was inspired by Ein from Cowboy Bebop.[7]
