Background information[]

  • Beast Boy's voice actor Greg Cipes came up with the idea of giving him an emotional support dog to help with his PTSD. Producers Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti agreed and decided to name it after Cipes's own dog. Unlike the show's Wingman, Cipes's dog is not a corgi, but the real and fictional dogs are similar colors.[6]
  • Wingman was designed by Jerome Moore. As well as references of real corgis, his design was inspired by Ein from Cowboy Bebop.[7]
