A trio of Y'ellonn.
Y'ellonns, or Yellow Martians, are a caste of Martians. Unlike the other Martian castes, they are defined not by natural skin color, but by the yellow skin color they adopt as part of becoming a member of the Sorcerer-Priesthood.[1]
History[]
There are no yellow-born Martians, but as part of becoming a sorcerer-priest or priestess a suitable member of any caste takes part in a ceremony[2] to change their skin color to yellow[1] and won't ever change it again thereafter.[3] All Y'ellonn are treated equally, regardless of their birth caste. Y'ellon are generally held in high regard, below B'lahdenn but above G'arrunn. They are expected to be apolitical,[2] and lead celebate, solitary lives.[4]
As Sorcerer-Priests and Priestesses, Y'ellonn have magical abilities, including the ability to create illusions, typically out of yellow energy.[4] They perform religious rites, including wedding ceremonies and the pre-wedding Ma'ayava'ana ceremony.[5]
