Season four of Young Justice was announced on July 20, 2019 during the DC Universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con.[2][3]
As of the time of the announcement, the season was in production and the showrunners stated that it will focus on a smaller group of core characters. Later, Brandon Vietti revealed that they will be doubling down on the core season one characters that fans already know and love.[4]
On August 25, Christopher Jones, the illustrator for the Young Justice comics, announced that he had been hired as Storyboard Revisionist.[5]
On September 5, Greg Weisman said on DC Daily that season four would have 26 episodes, and that there would also be another time jump.[1]
By October 2019, voice recording was already underway[6] and storyboarding commenced two months later.[7][8]
On February 9, 2020 Weisman announced that they had eleven finished scripts, six episodes recorded, but none animatics completed.[9]
On March 3, 2020 Weisman updated that they have twelve scripts completed and eight episodes recorded.[10]
